Pepper Ann, she’s like one in a million

1 Jul

I live in a large house in Cambridge, but have little interaction with my mostly older housemates.  I spend most of my time in my fairly nice bedroom because the rest of the house is like the before version of one of those TLC/HGTV makeover shows.

Consequently, the only break I get from doing work for my classes is centered around my laptop.  I was in a particularly giddy mood on Monday and remembered the theme song to a cartoon I used to watch on Saturday mornings in my youth, Pepper Ann.

I sang the theme song to Phil, who was not amused.  But I couldn’t get it out of my head and looked it up on youtube last night.  I ended up watching like six episodes.  It was the perfect stress reliever.

I could relate to the scarlet-haired Pepper Ann as a child for the same reason I can now: she wasn’t the prettiest, or the most popular, just an everyday girl who solved her problems with the help of her active imagination.  I love noticing things I didn’t as a child: Pepper Ann’s friend Milo is an obvious stoner, her aunt is a lesbian, and the way ‘fuzzy’ is a euphemism for the other f-word.

It’s a great show — just listen to that theme song!

all those other girls just weren’t cool enough to even see over the horizon where you chill in your cool palace… that’s how cool you are

except sometimes, like when you were singing the Pepper Ann theme song at the bus stop or those other dozen times over the course of the day ❤ lol
